Our gardening coordinator planting a tree with Warder of Maun Prisons.
In a continued effort to promote environmental stewardship and community collaboration, Re Jala Peo made a meaningful contribution by donating and planting six trees at Maun Prison on the 30th of June 2025.
The tree planting initiative aimed to support the prison’s greening efforts, contribute to the restoration of the natural environment, and promote a sense of care and responsibility among all community members, including those within correctional institutions. The day saw members of the Re Jala Peo team working side by side with prison staff to plant the trees within the prison yard. Each tree planted symbolized growth, renewal, and the shared commitment to protecting Botswana’s environment for future generations.
The Officer in Charge of Maun Prison extended his gratitude to the Re Jala Peo team, expressing appreciation for the donation and the hands-on support during the planting.
“We are thankful for your kind gesture and hope that this is only the beginning of a continued partnership. Let us keep supporting each other and stand together in nurturing and preserving our environment,” the Officer said.
This initiative aligns with Re Jala Peo’s broader mission to instil environmental values and create green spaces through community-driven action. By reaching out to institutions like Maun Prison, the organization demonstrates that environmental care is a responsibility shared by all regardless of walls or boundaries.
As the trees take root, so too does the hope for more sustainable, greener, and more connected communities across Botswana.
