Every child deserves the opportunity to discover their talents, believe in themselves, and grow up with a deep respect for the world around them. That is exactly why we are so excited to announce the expansion of our Aflatoun Social & Financial Education and Junior Ranger Nature Conservation programs to Etsha 13 and Jao Village Primary School in the beautiful Okavango Panhandle.
This has become possible through our partnership with Okwa Foundation, who share our belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for creating lasting change.
From 27–28 July, eleven enthusiastic teachers, together with Okwa Sarefo, took part in an inspiring Aflatoun training. During these two days, they explored practical and interactive ways to help children build self-confidence, develop life skills, understand money, dream about their future, and discover that they have the power to make a positive difference in their own communities.
On 29 July, the teachers continued their journey by participating in the Junior Ranger training. Together they explored how to inspire children to connect with nature, appreciate Botswana’s extraordinary wildlife, and become proud ambassadors for conservation. After all, the future of the Okavango Delta lies in the hands of the children growing up alongside it today.
What makes this expansion so special is that the programmes will now be led by the teachers themselves every Wednesday afternoon. By embedding the lessons within the schools, we are not simply introducing a project, we are helping to build knowledge, confidence and ownership that will continue for many years to come.
With these two new schools joining our growing network, we are welcoming nearly 300 additional children into the Re Jala Peo family. This represents hundreds of dreams, countless opportunities to learn, and young people who will grow into responsible, compassionate citizens who care for themselves, each other, and the environment.
We are very grateful to Okwa Foundation for believing in this shared vision. Together, we are planting seeds that will grow into stronger communities, healthier ecosystems, and a brighter future for Botswana.
