On the 22nd of April 2026, the Re Jala Peo Team and our passionate school coordinators came together on the banks of the Thamalakane River to honour Earth Day with action.

This year’s global theme is “Our Planet, Our Power. “For Re Jala Peo and the Maun community, we localized it to: “Protect Our Water, Protect Our Future.”

And that’s exactly what we did. We rolled up our sleeves and removed plastic waste from one of our most precious natural resources.

More Than a Clean-Up

This was more than picking up litter. It was a statement. A reminder that we are not separate from nature but deeply connected to it. As custodians of the Earth, the responsibility to protect it rests with each of us.

Real change doesn’t begin with big gestures. It starts with small, intentional actions driven by care and responsibility.

Leading by Example

By showing up, our Re Jala Peo did two things:

1. They helped restore a part of our environment
2. They set an example for the next generation, that protecting our planet and our water is not a choice, but a duty

Through collective action, we have the power to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for Maun and beyond.
